GENERAL INFO:

The Project purpose is to develop two architectonic interventions that allow a close look to the magnificent scale, the beauty, and the intricate construction technique, of the centuries old San Juan City Walls. These interventions should allow the experience of the visitor to be didactic as well as pleasant. The design must be developed in harmony with the historic site, taking great care to not outshine the City Wall with clashing geometries, materials, or signage, but rather underlining the importance and significance of this “World Heritage Monument”.  This can be done during the design process and by using materials and urban furniture that are complementary to the original structure. An effort should also be made to illuminate these sites in such a manner that the majesty of the monument can also be appreciated at night.
